A 2.5 hr walk through St Peter Port, starting at The Town church, quayside. Walking uphill through the Town to Candie cemetery, via Rue des Freres cemetery (burial place of Major Byng*) and Big Sam MacDonald’s stone, we think we know what caused this gentle giant’s death…then onto Cambridge park where we will see the site of the best known Duel * in Guernsey In 1795, then downhill and through Les Canichers to hear about the grizzly murder of poor Elizabeth Saujon, by John Tapner who was to become the last man hanged in Guernsey in 1854.
