Let me introduce you to places that coaches can't get to, a truly unique experience.
Potato Peel Pie – Active (part drive, park hike)
I will drive us to the Doyle Monument where we leave the car for a 2 hour hike past La Bouvee farm through Gypsy Lane and onto Fort Road, Bella Spa (Mad Bellas) and the picturesque Moulin Huet bay and cliff path which takes us back to the Car. Although the country lanes are quiet and easy to walk, the cliff path can be strenuous and good footwear is important. The view from the cliff path down to the Bay is outstanding whatever the weather, see the same views that Renoir painted in 1883.
Atlantic Wall Walk – Level Active
I like to visit the British Military Cemetery at Fort George where 111 German Soldiers are at rest. During this tour we can visit either the German Occupation Museum or the Underground Hospital. We can walk the South West coast point to see remaining Atlantic Wall fortifications or depending on the day (Tuesday or Saturday afternoons), West coast bunkers might be open for viewing.
North to Pembroke – Level Active
For those who prefer a ramble as opposed to a hike, the flat coastline of the North of Guernsey shows us what was prior to 1806 a separate Island, and since landfilled. There are 2 options here, either Vale Church, Ladies Bay adjacent to a golf course to Pembroke beach…with Neolithic passage graves en route, or from Bordeaux (Victor Hugo took inspiration to write Toilers of the Sea at this location) towards Beaucette Marina…Le Déhus (also known as Dehus Dolmen) is easily the most impressive passage grave in the island. Our transfer can then access other attractions before returning to your destination.
