Half-day Cliff walk - Highlights of Guernsey
Starting at pickup (your hotel/Albert Pier) these tours can be tailor made for your own interests and will feature known places of attraction as you chose:
Potato Peel Pie – Level Active
In honour of the book and film, this walk covers the Jerbourg headland and finishes at La Bouvee, the area featured in the book…see the fortifications at this headland, learn the history behind the Doyle monument and experience the quiet country lanes of La Bouvee and the fabulous East coast
views from Jerbourg point before we explore another location of your choice in Guernsey.
Atlantic Wall Walk – Level Active
This walking tour takes in two locations of WW2 German fortifications, Pleinmont point for the Pleinmont Observatory tower is a must as well as a restored loop hole tower which is now a museum. We stretch our legs again at Vazon Bay, climbing to Hommet headland, featuring the Nepoleonic Fort Hommet and restored WW2 bunkers. Another attraction at this location is the Shell Shrine
Marching through History – Level strenuous
This cliff walk starts in St Peter Port at La Vallette, climbing the steps to Clarence battery and a short detour to the Military Cemetery, originally built by the British (Fort George), however there are 111 German soldiers buried here. We walk through the bluebell woods before reaching Fermain Bay via the Cliff path. After refreshments we climb the hill to reach the transfer to take us to places of interest of your choice. The Little Chapel perhaps?
North to Pembroke – Level Active
For those who prefer a ramble as opposed to a hike, the flat coastline of the North of Guernsey shows us what was prior to 1806 a separate Island, and since landfilled. There are 2 options here, either Vale Church, Ladies Bay adjacent to a golf course to Pembroke beach…with Neolithic passage graves en route, or from Bordeaux (Victor Hugo took inspiration to write Toilers of the Sea at this location) towards Beaucette Marina…Le Déhus (also known as Dehus Dolmen) is easily the most impressive passage grave in the island. Our transfer can then access other attractions before returning to your destination.
